PDF to Excel Converter

Auto Detect works for most PDFs with standard tables. Layout Mode reconstructs columns by analyzing the spatial position of text — best for complex multi-column layouts. Stream Mode follows the natural text order and is ideal for borderless tables. Full Page mode extracts all content row by row without looking for table structure.

When "Auto-Detect Numbers & Dates" is enabled, the converter identifies numeric and date values and writes them as proper Excel number types — not text strings. This means you can use them directly in formulas and charts without any reformatting.

Scanned PDFs are images — they don't contain real text that can be extracted. For best results, use a native (digitally created) PDF. For scanned documents, you will need an OCR tool to convert the image to text first, then re-convert to Excel.

When enabled, each detected table is placed on its own named worksheet in the Excel file (e.g. "Table 1", "Table 2"). When disabled, all tables are stacked vertically on a single worksheet, separated by blank rows.

There is no hard limit. The converter scans all pages (or the range you specify) and extracts every table it detects. Large PDFs with dozens of tables are fully supported — each gets its own sheet in the output file.

Password-protected PDFs cannot be read until unlocked. Use our "Unlock PDF" tool to remove the password first, then come back to convert to Excel.
