❓ FAQ
Why does domain age matter for SEO?+
Older domains tend to have accumulated backlinks and trust signals. Search engines may consider domain age as a minor ranking factor. However, a 1-year-old domain with excellent content can outrank a 10-year-old one.
How is domain age calculated?+
Domain age is calculated from the registration date (first created date in WHOIS/RDAP records) to today. This is the calendar age — the domain may have been inactive or changed ownership during this time.
Does a new owner reset domain age?+
The registration date stays the same regardless of ownership changes. However, if a domain expires and is re-registered, the registration date resets. The domain age tool shows the current registration date.
What makes a domain "established"?+
This tool flags domains older than 5 years as Established. In the SEO community, domains older than 2–3 years are generally considered to have baseline authority, with older domains typically having more accumulated link equity.
Can I check the age of any domain extension?+
This tool supports most TLDs (.com, .net, .org, .io, .co.uk, etc.) that are accessible via RDAP. Some country-code TLDs may not provide creation dates in their RDAP responses.
