What are PayPal's standard fees?+
As of 2024, PayPal charges 3.49% + $0.49 for standard transactions in the US. PayPal Checkout is 2.99% + $0.49. International transactions incur additional currency conversion fees. Rates vary by country and account type.
How do I calculate what to charge so I receive the exact amount I want?+
Use the Reverse Mode tab. Enter the amount you want to net and PayPal's fee rate. The calculator determines the gross amount to charge so that after fees you receive exactly your target amount.
What is the formula to account for PayPal fees?+
To receive amount N: Charge = (N + Fixed Fee) ÷ (1 - Percentage Rate). For 3.49% + $0.49: to receive $100 exactly, charge = ($100 + $0.49) ÷ (1 - 0.0349) = $104.64.
Do PayPal fees differ for personal vs business accounts?+
Personal (Friends & Family) payments are free within the same country for bank transfers, but use of a credit/debit card incurs fees. Business/Goods & Services payments always incur fees. Sellers should always use Goods & Services for buyer protection.
What is the PayPal micropayment rate?+
PayPal offers a micropayment rate (1.9% + $0.10 US) for businesses selling digital goods under approximately $10. The higher fixed fee of standard rates ($0.49) would be proportionally too large for small transactions.
