How is exact age calculated?+
Age is calculated by counting the years, then remaining months, then remaining days between the birth date and the target date. February and month-length differences are handled precisely.
What is the total number of days in a year?+
A regular year has 365 days. A leap year has 366 days. Leap years occur every 4 years (years divisible by 4), except century years not divisible by 400. This affects total day calculations for longer periods.
Can I calculate age at a future or past date?+
Yes. Change the "Calculate Age As Of" date to any past or future date. The tool calculates age between the two dates regardless of which is earlier (birth date must be before the target date).
How many days old am I?+
Enter your birth date and today's date. The Total Days field shows your exact age in days. The average human lives approximately 28,000–30,000 days.
Why does age calculation differ between countries?+
Most countries use the Western age system (age increases on birthday). East Asian cultures traditionally count the year of birth as age 1. This tool uses the Western system.
